Stainless Steel 316 Flanges are made up of the 316 austenitic stainless steel. This grade of steel is a chromium nickel molybdenum alloy. Since the addition of the molybdenum content, the fittings made of this material are stronger and corrosion resistant than the 304 stainless steel. There are different ASTM A182 F316 Pipe Flanges made in this grade and are used in applications that require corrosion resistance. The Grade F316 Blind Flanges are used in such applications to seal off pipes.
Stainless Steel 316 Flanges
The caps could block a line permanently or temporarily. There are slip on flange as well. The SA182m f316 Slip on Flanges are used to connect precisely at desired locations. These are often used with seamless pipes which are allowed to slip onto the flange so that the connection location could be adjusted. The 3% molybdenum in the A182 Gr F316 material provides chloride ion corrosion stress cracking resistance to the fittings.
Therefore these are used in applications such as food processing plants, marine applications, sea water desalination plants and in ordinary domestic water services as well. The 316 Stainless Steel Pipe Flanges can be of different sizes ranging from ½ inches to 48 inches in nominal bore size and have different pressure capacities depending on different schedules ranging from 5 to XXS and custom requirements.
